Reading Assignment...week 3

After reading the Introduction I got many different impressions. I got the impression that the girl was searching for the easy way out to make the decision as to whether or not she should get an abortion. She asked the ethics professor and he didn't give her an answer as to what the girl should do. I think that he was forcing her to think of the ethical reasons as to why or why not should she have the abortion. Then in another incident there was a man who was asked to go to a liberal debate about homosexuality. He did choose not to go. I think that he made the right decision because he didn't sound as if he was taking any point of view on the issue. Therefore it would be wrong of him to go and debate (out of the amusement of others) about whether or not it is okay to believe/do homosexuality. I think that both of these issues are forcing the reader to think about what is ethic and what does it mean to be ethical. I came to the conclusion that the decision one makes to do or act in a particular way depends on the situation that they are in and what other factors are a role in your life as of that moment. The conclusion that I came up with is that it is more ethical to be who we are by our own beliefs and values and not by what we did or did not do in a situation.
